Osasuna Sign Nigerian Striker Sixtus Ogbuehi on Loan from Eldense

Spanish club CA Osasuna have completed the signing of young Nigerian striker Sixtus Ogbuehi on loan from CD Eldense until the end of the season, with an option to make the deal permanent. Ogbuehi will initially join Osasuna Promesas, the reserve side of the La Liga club, competing in the Primera Federación.

The 21-year-old forward, who earned a call-up to Nigeria’s U23 national team in 2023, arrives in Pamplona seeking to revive his career following a challenging stint at Eldense in the La Liga Hypermotion.

Standing at an imposing 192 centimeters tall, Ogbuehi brings physical presence and goal-scoring ability to Osasuna Promesas as they aim to strengthen their attack for the second half of the season.

Ogbuehi began his footballing journey with Campos FC in Owerri, Nigeria, before making a name for himself in the Nigerian National League, where he scored nine goals in 16 appearances during the 2021/22 campaign. His standout performances caught the attention of European scouts, leading to moves to Spanish lower-division clubs Moralo and Ceuta B.

During the 2022/23 season, Ogbuehi continued his prolific scoring form, netting 18 goals combined between Moralo and Ceuta B in the Spanish Fifth Division. His impressive displays earned him a move to Eldense, three divisions higher in the Segunda División, though he struggled for regular playing time, managing just five league appearances and one Copa del Rey outing this season.

Osasuna Promesas, currently 11th in Primera Federación – Group 2 with 25 points, announced the signing on their official website, emphasizing the inclusion of a voluntary purchase clause. Head coach Santi Castillejo will be hoping Ogbuehi’s arrival can provide the extra firepower needed to climb the table in the second half of the campaign.

Should the Nigerian striker impress during his loan spell, Osasuna retains the option to make the transfer permanent, potentially offering Ogbuehi a long-term path in Spanish football.
