Samson Akinyoola, a 36 Lion graduate, has decided to terminate his contract with Zamalek due to unpaid wages.

The Benin Republic international communicated to the club that he will not be returning to Cairo and urged for a mutual termination of his contract to allow him to seek new opportunities this summer.

On the other hand, Zamalek requested the player to return in order to mutually terminate the contract and resolve the financial dispute.

Akinyoola joined Zamalek from Caracas FC in September 2022 for a transfer fee of €1.2 million.

Despite playing 31 games and scoring four goals, he has struggled to secure a spot in the starting XI.

Last season, Akinyoola made 13 appearances, scoring twice and featuring in the CAF Confederation Cup final against RS Berkane, which Zamalek won after a 2-2 aggregate draw.

Zamalek is currently facing financial difficulties, with FIFA imposing a transfer ban until January 2026 due to late payments owed to former player Khalid Boutaib.
