Nigerian youngster Eseosa Sule was the star of the show as West Bromwich Albion delivered a dominant 5-0 victory over Liverpool at the Academy Ground on Saturday in a Premier League 2 clash.
Sule’s brace highlighted his growing reputation as a rising talent in English football. The youngster, who joined West Brom from Celtic, has been a standout performer in the club’s youth system.
The 18-year-old forward opened the scoring in the 14th minute before sealing his brace with a composed finish four minutes from full time. The goals brought his tally in the Premier League 2 to three goals and one assist in 10 appearances this season.
West Brom’s commanding performance also saw Reyes Cleary score twice, with his goals coming in the 38th and 47th minutes. Archie Kirton completed the rout with a stoppage-time strike in the 94th minute, capping off a remarkable display by the Baggies’ young guns.
Sule, who has scored nine goals and provided one assist in 25 appearances for West Brom’s U18 team, has already had a taste of senior football this season.
He made an 18-minute cameo in the 1-0 loss to Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup. With first-team striker Josh Maja sidelined due to injury, Sule will hope his impressive performances in the youth league will translate into more opportunities with the senior squad.
