Arteta considers playing Ethan Nwaneri as a striker after Havertz injury

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is considering playing Ethan Nwaneri as a center forward against Leicester City following the injury to Kai Havertz.

Nwaneri is one of the forward options available to Mikel Arteta after the German forward suffered a season ending hamstring during their Dubai tour.

The youngster has been a revelations for the Gunners, deputizing for Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard while they suffered their injury during the season.

While Odegaard is fit and available for the clash against Leicester City, Bukayo Saka is in the first stage of his recovery process after a successful surgery.

Due to his versatility and lack of options in the squad, Arteta is now considering Nwaneri has an option for the center forward position against Leicester City.

In his post match conference, Arteta praised the youngster ability to play several positions and adapt to different situations.

“It’s a question of when, he has the right qualities, to play out wide or centrally. We must adapt to the strengths of our players.”

Nwaneri is among the top scorers in the Gunners squad alongside the duo of Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka.

The young midfielder has scored seven across all competitions for the Gunners including the Carabao Cup, Premier League, and the UEFA Champions League.
