Liverpool ready to bid for Ademola Lookman, but offer likely to fall short

Liverpool are preparing to make a move for Atalanta star Ademola Lookman, with reports suggesting the Premier League leaders are willing to pay €45 million (£37m, $47m) for the Nigerian international.

However, sources indicate that such an offer may not be enough to secure the winger’s signature – as Atalanta value the Nigerian International higher.

Lookman has transformed his career since joining Atalanta, scoring 49 goals and registering 22 assists in 108 appearances. His performances have earned him back-to-back Atalanta Player of the Season awards and helped the club win the 2023/24 UEFA Europa League, where he netted a hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen.

Despite his impressive form, Lookman’s future in Italy appears uncertain following a reported fallout with head coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

This situation has fueled speculation of a summer exit, with Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur among the Premier League clubs vying for his signature.

Spanish outlet Fichajes claims that Chelsea and Tottenham are also willing to match Liverpool’s €45m bid. Meanwhile, Atalanta reportedly prefer to sell Lookman abroad, rather than to another Serie A club, despite Juventus’ interest.

TEAMtalk sources suggest Liverpool’s offer is unlikely to succeed, as Manchester United, Newcastle United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Inter Milan have all expressed interest in signing the Nigerian forward.

With Lookman’s stock continuing to rise, Atalanta may hold out for a higher fee as the summer transfer window approaches.
