Akwa United Vs Kwara United Preview: Promise Keepers Target Second Victory of the Season

Akwa United are ready to face off with Kwara United at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, in a matchday 10 encounter of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL season today.

An underwhelming start to the season by the Promise Keepers has seen them record only one win so far, the lowest by any NPFL team.

Sitting 20th on the log, Akwa United desperately need to get the job done against Kwara United at the Nest of Champions from 4pm today.

However, Kwara United will give a fight having picked up four points against Akwa United last season.

A 1-1 draw in Eket was followed by a 1-0 win in Illorin for the Harmony Boys, who have won six and lost five against the Promise Keepers in previous meetings, with five encounters ending in stalemates.

For Akwa United, Mohammed Babaganaru will be relying on his players to step up and show improvement in front of goal, an area that has been a problem for them this season.

Chijioke Alaekwe, Osoba Kabir, Paul Acquah, Friday Apollos, Edidiong Ezekiel, Kemfon Davidson and other forwards look set to feature today, but must be at their best to break down 12th-placed Kwara United.

On the side of the supporters of Akwa United, it has been a long season already and they are eager to see their team back to winning ways.

Akwa United’s only win this season was a 2-0 win over Kano Pillars on matchday six, while three draws have been recorded and five losses in the first nine games of the season.

Victory against Kwara United will bring back confidence into the Akwa United set up, and that is the target for the 2021 champions.
