Nigerian eligible maestro, Rio Ngumoha was in brilliant form as Liverpool destroyed Bayer Leverkusen 4-1 in the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday, reports Futbalgalore.com.ng.
The skillful winger was menacing at the flank for the Reds U19 who annihilated their German opponents.
Ngumoha lasted 88 minutes in the pulsating encounter.
The 2008-born forward rejected a scholarship deal at Chelsea in favour of joining Liverpool’s academy team this summer.
In his final season as a schoolboy, he appeared in nine matches in the U18 Premier League, scoring one goal and registering an assist, and also debuted for Chelsea’s development squad in the Premier League Cup.
He was invited to train with Chelsea’s first team, under Mauricio Pochettino, at the age of 15, a testament to how highly he is rated by the coaching staff at Stamford Bridge.
Ngumoha, a promising talent likened to Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala, rejected a scholarship offer from Chelsea to join Liverpool.
