Super Falcons Among Top Seeds for 2025 WAFCON Draw in Morocco

The Super Falcons of Nigeria, Africa’s most decorated women’s football team, have been named one of the three top seeds for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) draw, set to take place tonight in Morocco.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) also confirmed hosts Morocco and defending champions South Africa as the other top seeds, placing all three nations in “Level 1.”

As group leaders in the first-round draw—Groups A, B, and C—they will avoid facing each other until the knockout stages. The tournament is scheduled to run from July 5 to 26, 2025, in Morocco, promising to showcase the best of African women’s football.

The draw, which kicks off at 7 PM local time, will officially set the stage for the continent’s premier women’s football event. The Super Falcons will hope to get back the title from South Africa, which they won two years ago in Morocco.

Nigeria is the most successful team in the tournament winning it nine times since its inception in 1991. However, Equatorial Guinea is the second most successful with two titles, while South Africa has won just one.
