Nigerian talent David Kasumu secured a crucial victory for Huddersfield Town in a closely contested match against ten-man Charlton Athletic, extending the team’s unbeaten streak in Sky Bet League One to six games with a 2-1 win on Saturday afternoon.
Matty Pearson opened the scoring with a powerful header from Mickel Miller’s inswinging corner, marking his fourth goal of the season.
Charlton equalized through Matty Godden, who converted a penalty after Rarmani Edmonds-Green was fouled by Brodie Spencer in the box.
The visitors faced a setback when Greg Docherty received a red card for a foul on Nigel Lonwijk, leaving them with ten players.
Kasumu then delivered the decisive blow with a left-footed strike from outside the area, swinging the match back in favor of Huddersfield and securing all three points at home.
Before joining Huddersfield Town in July 2022, Kasumu made 70 league appearances for Milton Keynes Dons, where he scored one goal and provided four assists.
This season, the midfielder has netted two goals in 11 appearances for Huddersfield Town.
In July 2015, Kasumu was selected for the Nigeria U15 national team and participated in a training camp in Abuja.
